BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 13. Kyrgyzstan recorded a total of 358,300 incoming money transfers through the Unistream system from January through September 2023, which is an increase of 7.5 times compared to the same period in 2022 (47,500 transfers), Trend reports.
Data from the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan indicates that the overall value of incoming transfers amounted to 10 billion soms ($111 million).
Outgoing transfers through Unistream reached 1,700 transactions during the nine months, which is 1.3 times higher than the 1,300 transactions in the same period in 2022. The total amount transferred during the three quarters of the current year summed up to 243 million ($2.7 million).
Unistream is a Russian international money transfer system that facilitates transfers to countries within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and other countries.
Throughout the third quarter of this year, Kyrgyzstan received 43.950 billion soms ($492 million) via money transfer systems. Zolotaya Korona, Astrasend, and Unistream were the primary systems for incoming payments to Kyrgyzstan.
Regarding outgoing payments through money transfer systems, transactions amounted to a total of 12.319 billion soms ($137 million) from January through September 2023.
