Number of remittances via Unistream magnifies in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 30. Kyrgyzstan recorded a total of 303,200 incoming money transfers through the Russian Unistream money transfer system from October through December 2023, Trend reports.

According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, this figure increased by 40.4 percent compared to the same period in 2022 (215,900 transfers). The value of incoming transfers amounted to 10.106 billion soms ($113.983 million) in the last quarter of 2023.

Additionally, 1,300 outgoing transactions were conducted via Unistream, which is a 69 percent decrease compared to the same months of 2022, which registered 4,200 transactions. The total value of outgoing transfers in the last quarter of 2023 summed up to 128.3 million soms ($1.447 million).

In Kyrgyzstan, a total of 1.815 million incoming transactions were made via money transfer systems during the reporting period, with the value amounting to 48.201 billion soms ($540.854 million). Outgoing transfers numbered 151,400 and were valued at 11.728 billion soms ($131.597 million).

The following money transfer systems have been operating in Kyrgyzstan in the last quarter of 2023: Western Union, Contact, MoneyGram, Unistream, Zolotaya Korona, RIA, UPT, Astrasend, and PLUSPAY.
