BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 19. Kyrgyzstan received $293.8 million in remittances through international payment systems in August 2024, which is a 14.6 percent increase from $256.3 million in July, Trend reports.
According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, $276.6 million was sent from CIS countries. Specifically, $275.6 million came from Russia, $400,000 from Kazakhstan, and $700,000 from other CIS nations.
In addition, $17.1 million was transferred from countries outside the CIS, including $5.7 million from South Korea, $4.9 million from the US, $1.7 million from Türkiye, and $4.7 million from other countries.
By the end of last year, the volume of money transfers to the country amounted to $2.706 billion, which is 12.3 percent, or $380.4 million, less than in 2022.
The majority of the money came from CIS countries, totaling $2.550 billion. Specifically, $2.531 billion came from Russia and $16.7 million came from Kazakhstan.
