DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 15. The number of bank payment cards in Tajikistan reached 6,991,672 by the end of February 2024, Trend reports.
According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, this figure marks a 2 percent increase from 6,852,927 cards in January of the current year. Furthermore, the figure grew by 29.7 percent compared to 5,388,380 cards in February 2023.
In addition, the number of other payment cards totaled 847,838 in February 2024, which is a 0.96 percent increase from 839,781 cards in January. Compared to 733,333 cards in February 2023, the amount grew by 15.6 percent.
Moreover, the number of payment cardholders reached 6,765,742 people at the end of February 2024, which is a 1.8 percent increase from 6,646,347 in January and an increase of 34 percent compared to 5,026,418 people in February last year.
As of the end of February 2024, Tajikistan had 63 credit financial organizations operating, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds. Meanwhile, there were 24 banks issuing bank payment cards at the end of the reporting month.
