BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. The program for the development of transport diplomacy of Turkmenistan for 2022 through 2025 provides for the preparation of a Road Transport Code, the introduction of such digital solutions for multimodal transport as a Global Transit Document, as well as the modernization and expansion of transport infrastructure, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

This was stated by Chairman of the Board of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan Rahimberdy Jepbarov at the international conference on "International transport and transit corridors: interconnection and development" (ITC 2023) held in Ashgabat on May 3 through 4, 2023.

According to him, due to the mobilization of state funds in Turkmenistan, the following were carried out: the construction of six international airports, a seaport and a shipbuilding plant in Turkmenbashi, highways, a railway bridge across the Amu Darya River; the purchase of vehicles and aircraft, an oil tanker, etc.

He noted that projects such as the construction of a road bridge across Garabogaz Bay, as well as the purchase of Airbus cargo airliners, are currently being implemented.

Separately, the head of the bank noted the ongoing construction of the Turkmenabat - Ashgabat - Turkmenbashi highway, the first part of which Turkmenabat - Ashgabat has already been completed, and also added that this is the first project implemented in a public-private partnership, the law on which was adopted in June 2021.

Large investments are being made in the formation of modern transport infrastructure in Turkmenistan, which contributes both to the comprehensive development of the regions and to the economic prosperity of the country as a whole.
