Turkmenistan emphasizes growth of fruit and vegetable production

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 14. The production of vegetable products in Turkmenistan increased by 7.4 percent year-on-year from January through June this year, Trend reports.

Dovletgeldi Amanmukhammedov, Chairman of Turkmenistan's State Statistics Committee, made this announcement during an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on July 12, 2024.

According to him, during the reporting period, farmers in Turkmenistan grew 11.4 percent more potatoes than a year earlier, and berries and fruits - 1.2 percent more.

Furthermore, Amanmukhammedov noted that in the first half of this year, the country's farmers produced 0.5 percent more milk, and 0.6 percent more meat in net weight.

Meanwhile, in recent years, Turkmenistan's farming sector has experienced substantial growth due to government reforms and investments.

The actions taken are aimed at enhancing technologies, boosting productivity, and optimizing land use, resulting in a notable rise in agricultural output. This has contributed to reinforcing food security and enhancing the economic prosperity of the population.
