Turkmenistan develops digitalization and cybersecurity measures

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 15. It is proposed to develop an action plan to modernize national legislation in the field of digitalization and cybersecurity, as well as strengthen international cooperation in this area, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov said, Trend reports.

He made the report to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.

“It is proposed to develop an Action Plan to bring the domestic legal framework in line with modern norms of international law and to hold seminars and conferences with international partners to consider opportunities for Turkmenistan to join conventions in the field of digitalization,” Meredov said.

The minister added in his report that an interregional Dialogue on the development of digital cooperation is planned to be held in Ashgabat in November 2024, which will allow consideration of new prospects for cooperation with the states of the region and specialized companies.

Furthermore, according to Meredov, it was proposed to develop a program of cooperation with technologically developed countries for 2025-2027 to ensure cybersecurity of the digital system, as well as to continue cooperation with the UN Counter-Terrorism Office and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in the field of cybersecurity and digitalization of public services.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed the need to constantly study best practices to modernize the national economy and implement digital systems at the level of international standards.
