The Economy Council of Iran has issued the permission for constructing the second part of the Iran-Pakistan pipeline, which runs 290 kilometer into the Iranian soil, and will be completed by 2014.
The Mehr News Agency reported that the second part of the pipeline will be extended from Iranshahr to Pakistani border. Some 29 trillion rials ($2.4 billion) have been allocated to the project.
The 2,775-kilometre pipeline will be supplied from the South Pars gas field. It starts from Asalouyeh and stretches 1,172 kilometers through Iran. The Iran's section is known as Iran's 7th cross-country gas pipeline. First 902-kilometre part of this section runs from Asalouyeh to Iranshahr. The second 290-kilometre part runs from Iranshahr to Iran-Pakistan border.
