BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9. The products were exported from Iran to Russia for the first time through the Rasht-Caspian railroad and Caspian port, which were put into operation on June 20, the Head of Iran's Anzali Free Trade Zone Mohammad Sajjad Siahkarzadeh told reporters, Trend reports.

According to him, a total of 3,500 tons of cement produced in one of Iran's factories have been dispatched to Russia today.

Siahkarzadeh noted that, in addition, urea was transited from Turkmenistan to Türkiye through this railroad. At each stage, 1,500 tons of urea was transported 5 times.

The official emphasized that Iran is trying to maximize the opportunities of the Rasht-Caspian railroad by expanding cooperation with member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and Caspian littoral countries.

Siahkarzadeh stated that the potential of exporting products in this direction is 30,000 tons. Considering the potential of the Caspian port, economic businessmen can utilize the Caspian Sea for the export, import, and transit of products.

To note, the Rasht-Caspian railroad line was put into operation on June 20 in Gilan province, located in northern Iran. A total of 35 trillion rials (about $90 million) was spent on the construction of this 37-kilometer-long railway line.
