Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province possesses mining dev't potential - minister

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 10. Sistan and Baluchestan Province, located in the southeast of Iran, has great potential for the development of the mining industry, the Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mohammad Atabak said during the visit to the Angirak gold mine and plant in the Taftan district of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Trend reports.

According to him, additional investments and sector support might propel the province's mining sector to new heights of development.

Atabak added that Sistan and Baluchestan Province has opportunities in many economic fields of the country. Activating these opportunities will lead to the development of both the province and the country.

To note, the construction of a gold processing plant in the Taftan district of Sistan and Baluchestan province was started in April 2022 and commissioned in January 2024.

This plant currently produces 500 kg of gold bars per year and employs 500 people. The second unit of the plant is currently under construction and is expected to be commissioned this year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025). The potential for gold bullion production at the second unit will be 1,020 kilograms. Sadr Tamin Investment Company and Social Security Investment Company have invested $55 million in this plant.
