BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 25. Iran's agricultural exports increased by 26.2 percent in value and 19.7 percent in weight terms during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023).
The data obtained by Trend from the country's customs administration shows that Iran exported 3.15 million tons of agricultural products worth $1.69 billion during the six months. Iran's agricultural exports for the same period last year amounted to 2.64 million tons worth $1.34 billion.
Meanwhile, a total of 37,500 tons of pistachios worth $374 million, 543,000 tons of tomatoes worth $207 million, 536,000 tons of watermelons worth $128 million, 223,000 tons of apples worth $114 million, and 85,300 tons of persimmons worth $77.8 million were exported during the mentioned period.
To note, Iran cultivates more than 130 million tons of agricultural products per year on average.
