BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 14. A total of 2 bcm of liquefied gas has been processed at Refinery No. 4 of Iran's South Pars Gas Company during nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 2024), the head of the fourth refinery of the SPGC Behzad Salari said, Trend reports.
According to him, Refinery No. 4 has produced more than 220,000 barrels of gas condensate during the nine months. This has played a fundamental role in the country's economic development.
Salari added that during the 9 months, Refinery No. 4 produced more than 10 million tons of ethane.
The official stated that the refinery produced more than 360,000 tons of propane and 240,000 tons of butane during the mentioned period.
“The company carried out an overhaul at Refinery No. 4 and repaired 5 gas-exhausting turbines of the plant,” he remarked.
South Pars Gas Company processes the rich gas produced from the South Pars gas field. The company's fourth refinery refines gas from phases 6, 7, and 8 of the South Pars gas field.
To note, the South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
