Traffic on roads across Iran increased by 70 percent on March 18 as people are taking Iranian New Year trips, said Hassan Abedi, second-in-command of the Tehran Road Police, reports Mehr news agency.
The Iranian New Year begins on March 20, causing a fortnight of tourism boost in the country.
Iran's IRIB news agency has today quoted Abbas Akhoundi, the minister for roads and urban development, as saying that the number of the flights landing in or taking off from Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport had increased by 100 hitting 220.
He also said the airport is expected to serve 280 flights on the last day of the holiday.
