Coalition forces kill Taliban commander in Afghanistan

Afghanistan, Kabul, Dec. 29 / Trend corr. A. Hakimi/   Coalition forces kill Taliban commander who involved in kidnapping and bomb planting in Gailan district of Ghazni province .

Two insurgents were killed in an operation led by the US troops.

The US troops shot dead one insurgent commander along with another insurgent in Gailan district of Ghazni.

According to coalition forces news release, the dead insurgent commander was involved in kidnappings of Afghan government officers, planting roadside mines in Ghazni -Zabul Highway .

The press release added, "The troops surrounded the insurgents in house and opened fire on them after they refused to surrender".

Ghazni is a restive province in Afghanistan where the Taliban intensified their activity.

Ghazni is important strategically, located through the highway Kabul-Kandahar.
