Indonesia receives Egypt's apology for students' arrest, torture

Indonesia has received Egypt's apology for the wrong arrest and alleged torture of four Indonesian students at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Indonesian senior official said here on Friday, Xinhua reported.
  
Indonesian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said that officials from the Egyptian embassy came to the ministry's office on Tuesday to convey their regret and apology for the incident that stirred anger among Indonesians.
  
Teuku said that investigation into the case is still underway at the moment.
  
Teuku, however, said that the Egyptian embassy did not convey whether Cairo would punish those who committed the arrest and torture against Indonesian students.
  
"The decision is on the (Egyptian) government," he was quoted by the Jakarta Post as saying.
  
During a raid on June 28, Egypt's police arrested four Indonesian students for allegedly involving in an extremist network.
  
They were released after being interrogated and detained for three days.
