Court decision on economic dispute between CATEL and Azercell to come into force in late December

Final court decision on economic dispute between the company CATEL (CDMA operator) and Azercell Telekom on inter-operator connections will come into force at the end of December, CATEL told Trend.

As the company said, the amount of CATEL's debt to Azercell will be announced after the decision will come into force.

Earlier, court of first instance secured the claim of Azercell on economic dispute with CATEL.

Despite the appeal filed by CATEL on court of first instance's decision, the appellate court decided to retain the plaintiff's claims of Azercell Telekom.

The decision on the unification of rates on inter-operator connections of wireless CDMA with GSM was adopted by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan at the end of 2010. The rate on the connection determines the amount that one operator pays to another for a minute of conversation outside of its network.

The rate is 0.02 manat in Azerbaijan. Cost of per minute of inter-operator connections was reduced from 0.05 manat to 0.02 manat in April 2009.

CDMA wireless network of CATEL company ceased its operation on April 1, 2011, which led to the disconnection of phone owners' network which work through CDMA standard (number with an indexes "417", "418" and "415" and the number of mobile network FONEX, starting with zoning code "040").

Official exchange rate for December 14 is 0.7849 AZN / USD.
