Software piracy in Azerbaijan in 2013 stood at 87 percent, according to the Business Software Alliance (BSA), head of the FINA LLP, Nariman Ramazanov told Trend on Jan. 16.
FINA LLP received authorisation from the Business Software Alliance (BSA) in the Azerbaijani market in December 2012.
Ramazanov said that according to BSA experts, the market of pirated software in Azerbaijan remained unchanged compared to 2011-2012.
"But a 1-1.5 percent reduction in software piracy by mid-2014 is projected caused by a massive transition to licensed software by many government departments and enterprises and the country's financial sector," Ramazanov said.
According to BSA's estimations the market volume illegally using software in Azerbaijan exceeds $60 million per year.
BSA conducts studies covering all kinds of software installed on personal computers, desktop systems, laptops and ultra-portable systems, including netbooks. The studies also include operating systems and systems software, databases and security systems, free programmes and open source software.
