Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 February / Trend corr. G.Jabiyev / Yagub Mammadov, the ex-Speaker of Azerbaijan, will not participate in the upcoming presidential elections scheduled in October this year, Mammadov stated to Trend.
Mammadov was one of the founders of the Yeni Siyasat bloc (New Policy), which was founded during the parliamentary elections of 2005. Mammadov nominated his candidature to MP position.
Not disclosing any reasons for his refusal to participate in the presidential elections, Mammadov said that his decision was not connected with confidence in himself. "I have enough power among public and I believe in myself," the Ex-Speaker said.
Mammadov believes that the State has more chances of winning these elections. The Opposition has no common position and they are only engaged in blaming each other.
