France, Strasburg, 8 Dec /corr. Trend A.Maharramli / On 10 Dec a seminar "Azerbaijan and democratic process and observation of presidential elections: results and prospect", dedicated to the presidential elections in Azerbaijan on 15 Oct will be held in Paris, a source at the Center for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies told Trend on 8 Dec.
Seminar is held with the organization of the Center for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies and France- Azerbaijan Friendship Group of the National Assembly of France within the joint co-operation of the leading National Institute of Defense Studies, auditors of the leading National Institute of Security Studies, Atlantic - Urals College and European Association of Administrators of Elections. The group of French MPs and members of higher educational institutions visited Azerbaijan to observe presidential elections in Azerbaijan on 15 Oct.
During the seminar, the observation mission will hold discussions on the election process in Azerbaijan, which took course on complete democratization.
The event will be opened by Jean-Louis Dumont, Chairman of France- Azerbaijan Friendship Group and Jean-Yves Chevalier, President of Center for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies.
In addition, the seminar will cover the theme " Azerbaijan tomorrow". Today's political, economic and cultural relations between France and Azerbaijan and their prospects in the new international context will become the basic topic of discussions.
The release by the Center also speaks of the difficult problems, being faced by Azerbaijan in the first five years of its independence (1991-1995), including occupation of its lands. "In spite of this, Azerbaijan again revived, its economy develops with rapid rates. It is especially noted that Azerbaijan is the tolerant country, which selected the way of negotiations and investments. In addition, today Azerbaijan, located on the cross-road of civilizations and basic commercial ways, plays the role of geo-strategic center, and at the same time, Azerbaijan is basic way for the transit of energy resources between Central Asia and Europe. After the recent events in Georgia, it is very important to understand the development of Azerbaijan and the fact that part of the future of Europe, and also the entire world depends on it".
