Zarbaliyeva/ The prosecutor demanded jail sentence for the members of the grouping consisting of 17 people led by Naif Abdulkarim Al-Badavi with a nickname of Abu Jafar of Arab origin, who founded illegal armed grouping in Azerbaijan connected with Al-Qaeda and Al-Jihad terrorist organizations.
The court sitting on this criminal case examined the cases of Abu Jafar and other members of the grouping including Mirza Babayev, Gadir Hajiyev, Vugar Aliyev, Emin Jami, Logman Muradov, Habil Masmaliyev, Parviz Karimov, Vidadi Karimov, Adil Heraykhanov, Vitaliy Agamammadov, Asaf Khazarov, Danil Abuyev, Rafael Rahimov and Elchin Alimirzayev, well-known with nickname of Abdul Malik and Haji.
The prosecutor demanded head of grouping Al-Badavi 15-year jail sentence, Elchin Alimirzayev - 13 years and other members of the grouping from 4 to 12 years.
The members of the grouping, the investigations of which were conducted by the Central Investigation Department of the National Security Ministry, are charged with founding illegal armed groupings (292.2), resistance and using force toward representatives of government (315.2), illegal purchase, sale, hand-over and storing of arms and its component parts, ammunition, explosives.
The head of the grouping and several other members were detained on 2 to 3 November 2007 by the special division Gartal of the Ministry of National Security. On 26 September 2007, one of the members of the grouping Telman Abdullayev shot two police officers and hided himself during the joint measures conducted by the law enforcement bodies to detain this group.
