ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 2. KEGOC (Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company) signed off-take contracts totaling 19.5 billion tenge (approximately $37.05 million) in 2024, which is five times higher than the figure for 2023, Trend reports.
KEGOC hosted a roundtable on supporting domestic manufacturers, where the key topics of the event included the development and support measures for domestic production, as well as interaction between producers and buyers for the implementation of the import substitution policy.
It was noted that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Asian Development Bank positively assessed the transparency of purchases by the Samruk-Kazyna fund, which helped strengthen the trust of international partners and investors. This confirms the high level of openness and professionalism, ensuring the successful implementation of large infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan.
The roundtable emphasized that the company also purchases special vehicles and office equipment produced domestically. KEGOC pays particular attention to expanding the range of products made in Kazakhstan. Among the priority items are SF6 and vacuum circuit breakers, controlled shunt reactors, high-voltage bushings, optical fiber cables, and other types of equipment.
To note, in the implementation of investment programs, KEGOC focuses on the products of local manufacturers. Electric network equipment made by Kazakhstani companies is used in big projects like the Strengthening of the Electrical Network of the Southern Zone of Kazakhstan's Unified Energy System and the Integration of the Western Kazakhstan Energy System with Kazakhstan's Unified Energy System.
