BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 7. The preliminary data for last year shows that the average monthly nominal salary of hired workers in the Azerbaijani economy totaled 1,009 manat ($593.5).
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Statistics Committee shows that this figure is 75.4 manat ($44.3), or 8.1 percent more than a year earlier, and 301.9 manat ($177.5), or 42.7 percent more than the last five years. Thus, in 2023, the average monthly nominal wage of hired employees in the country's economy stood at 933.8 manat ($549.2), while in 2020 it made up 707.3 manat ($416.05).
Also, in 2021, the average monthly nominal salary of salaried workers in the economy of Azerbaijan amounted to 732.1 manat ($430.6) and 839.4 manat ($493.7) in 2022.
Last year, the average monthly nominal salary was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, professional, scientific, and technical activities, as well as in the field of information and communication.
As of January 1 of this year, the number of employed people in the country's economy, based on preliminary data, amounted to 1.7 million people, of which 882,800 people worked in the public sector of the economy, and 895,700 people in the private sector.
