ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 17. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) had a bustling loan portfolio of 2.998 billion euros for its projects in Kazakhstan as of December 31, 2024, Trend reports.
As of the specified reporting period, the EBRD was engaged in a portfolio of 124 active initiatives. A substantial proportion of the capital allocation, approximately 77 percent (2,308.46 billion euros), was directed towards the development of sustainable infrastructure initiatives. Sixteen percent, equivalent to 479.68 million euros, was earmarked for financial institutions, while seven percent, amounting to 209.86 million euros, was designated for the corporate sector.
In the fiscal year 2024, the EBRD allocated a substantial
capital infusion of 913 million euros across a portfolio of 25
strategic initiatives in Kazakhstan, reflecting a remarkable
increase of 259.5 percent relative to the preceding fiscal year of
2023.
Since the initiation of its operational framework in Kazakhstan,
the EBRD has allocated an excess of 10,914 billion euros into the
national economy.
To note, in 2022, the EBRD celebrated 30 years of cooperation
between the Bank and Kazakhstan. The EBRD's new Country Strategy
for Kazakhstan 2022-2027 was approved by the Board of Directors on
June 22, 2022, and includes work in three main areas: enhancing
private sector competitiveness and connectivity; supporting
Kazakhstan on a green development path to carbon neutrality and
climate resilience; and promoting economic inclusion and gender
equality through private sector engagement.
