ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 19. Kazakhstan plans to produce up to 1 million tons of aviation fuel by 2030, said Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Transport, Talgat Lastayev, following a government meeting, Trend reports.

"Overall, around 730,000-740,000 tons of aviation kerosene are produced in Kazakhstan, but 630 thousand tons go to civil aviation, and 100, 000 tons are allocated for the needs of state aviation. Currently, if we count the total need, it's about 1 million tons. After upgrading our oil refineries, we plan to produce 1 million tons by 2030," he noted.

Earlier, it was reported that the Ministry of Transport plans to create a single operator for aviation fuel based on KazMunayGas-Aero LLP. The company plans to build a refueling complex (RFC) at Astana Airport for 2.5 billion tenge (approximately $5 million) and at Aktobe Airport for 5 billion tenge (approximately $10 million).

Additionally, Kazakhstan will develop a comprehensive plan of actions aimed at reducing the cost of aviation fuel at airports. In late 2024, the Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas, Askhat Khasenov, reported that three Kazakhstani refineries were ready to produce international-grade Jet A-1 aviation fuel, but to start production, the readiness of the entire infrastructure in the country is necessary.
