BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20. Azerbaijan imported tobacco and tobacco products worth $56.7 million from foreign countries from January through June 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that tobacco import expenditures rose by $2.4 million, or 4.4 percent, compared to the same period of 2024 ($54.3 million).
Alongside the rise in imports, domestic tobacco production also saw a notable increase. Azerbaijan produced tobacco products valued at 467.3 million manat ($274.8 million) during the reporting period. This represents an increase of 122.9 million manat ($72.2 million), or 35.7 percent, compared to the same period in the previous year, when production was recorded at 344.4 million manat ($202.5 million).
