The construction of the second lane of the Parsabad-Meshkinshahr highway in Ardabil Province (northwestern Iran) has begun, Director General of the Road and Urban Development Department of Ardabil Province Mahbub Heydari said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.
The director general emphasized that a total of 5.14 trillion rials (about $122 million) will be spent on the construction of a 40-kilometer highway.
Heydari added that 537 kilometers length of roads have been put into operation in Iran's Ardabil Province over the past three years.
"The length of highways launched in the province is 185 kilometers. This figure is planned to be extended to 627 kilometers," he said.
According to Heydari, 278-kilometers of highways are being built in the province at present, and certain researches are underway in connection with the construction of 310-kilometers of highways.
