New medical device production to be launched in Kazakhstan

Kazakh National Agency for Technological Development, Austrian medical devices manufacturer Translumina and Kazakh pharmaceutics company Dosfarm will launch a new project on coronary stents and catheters production in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh National Agency for Technological Development reported.

The project has been presented today to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev within the Austrian companies' exhibition.

"The estimated cost of the project hit $10 million. This project will create not only a new company based on the latest technologies, but also a new niche in the Kazakh industry," Chairman of the Board of the Kazakh National Agency for Technological Development Aydin Kulseitov said at the presentation.

The parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the project at AustriaKazakh Nationthe Kazakh-Austrian Economic Forum. The project envisages production of 25,000 coronary stents and 35,000 catheters per year.

Kazakh National Agency for Technological Development is 100 percent owned by Kazakhstan. The agency was created to coordinate the processes of innovation development and take state support measures.
