The railway companies of the Customs Union will prepare and submit the documents to the government to create a joint transport company by 2013, Novosti-Kazakhstan quoted Russian Railways head Vladimir Yakunin as saying.
"We have set an ambitious goal - to prepare all the necessary documents and submit to the governments of our countries by the end of this year. The time of decision making on this issue depends on the governments," Yakunin said at the third international rail business forum "1520 strategic partnership: Central Asia"
The joint transport company will include Belarusian, Kazakh and Russian national carriers. Meanwhile, according to Yakunin, new participants from other countries can join the company in the future.
"If the pretender (to join the company) recognizes the principles and goals of the system, we will welcome such a new member," Russian Railways head said.
According to Yakunin, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus will have equal shares in the company.
