Production in Azerbaijan’s processing industry increased by almost 10 per cent

The volume of industrial production (the volume of production and rendered industrial services) amounted to 19.6 billion manat in January-July, 2013 which exceeds the figure in the same period of 2012 by 0.4 per cent, the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan reported.

'Azerbaijan's non-oil sector showed an increase of 3.4 per cent whilst the oil sector decreased by 0.3 per cent during the indicated period', the report says.

According to the report, a large increase was observed in the production of shoes and leather products, cars and other vehicles, computers and electronic equipment in Azerbaijan's non-oil sector in January-July, 2013.

The volume of production in the mining industry amounted to 14.6 billion manat, with a 74.2 per cent specific weight in all industrial production during the reported period which is 0.8 per cent lower than in the same period of 2012.

The volume of oil production amounted to 25.5 million tons and natural gas production to 10.3 billion cubic meters in January-July, 2013. Oil production decreased by 1.4 per cent compared to the same period in 2012 and gas production remained at the same level as January-July, 2012.

The volume of production in the processing industry amounted to 3.9 billion manat with a specific weight of 19.9 per cent in January-July, 2013 which exceeds the same period of 2012 by eight per cent. Production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam increased by 0.1 per cent and water supply, treatment and recycling of waste increased by 8.9 per cent compared to the same period of 2012.

The official exchange rate on August 19 is 0.7845 AZN/USD.
