Turkmen embassy in Romania organized a round table titled "Establishment of a Modern Multimodal Transport Infrastructure - A Key to Success in Revival of the Great Silk Road" in Bucharest, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
Secretary of State of the Romanian Ministry of Transport Maria Magdalena Grigore attended the event.
Representatives of the Foreign Ministry, Parliament, the Ministry for Economy, Trade, Industry and the Business Environment, the Chamber of Commerce, the National Union of Road Hauliers, and other ministries and departments of Romania were also invited to participate in the event.
"The guests expressed their readiness for comprehensive cooperation with Turkmenistan in the transport sector," the ministry reported.
The event participants familiarized with Ashgabat's initiatives in the transport sector, as well as with the major infrastructure projects currently being implemented in Turkmenistan.
Earlier, the two countries agreed to seek the optimal ways of the Black Sea-Caspian Sea Trade and Transport Corridor using the advantages of the Constanta port and the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
The matter rests in the formation of the Eurasian Transport Corridor. In particular, the Turkmen State Service of Maritime and River Transportation has been considering the possibility of transporting goods, including liquefied gas to Constanta. This envisages the use of special containers and the route stretches through the Caspian Sea to Baku (Azerbaijan), then by rail to Batumi or Poti (Georgia, Black Sea region) and from there to Romania via sea.
