Orvo will be the first brand of electric vehicles manufactured in Georgia, industrial designer Zviad Tsikolia stated, Trend reports citing bm.ge.
He made this remark on his page on Facebook. As noted, Tsikolia will become the designer of the electric car. "Orvo" in Georgian means "infinity."
In May 2019, the Georgian holding company AiGroup and the Chinese consortium Changan Automobile signed a memorandum on the construction of the first ever electric vehicle plant in Georgia. The plant will be built in Kutaisi city in 24 months.
As expected, the plant annually produce 40,000 electric vehicles. Part of them will be supplied to the domestic market, while other cars to be exported to the EU countries. Up to 300 local residents will be employed in the production. Within 18 months after the commissioning of the enterprise, at least 5,000 electric vehicles will be assembled.
AiCar is part of the AiGroup holding. The holding, which unites the companies AiEnergy, AiCar, AiPower and AiProduction, plans to start production of electric vehicles, build solar power stations and create a network of charging stations for electric cars. The company intends to rent electric cars out throughout Georgia. It is positioning itself as the first company in the South Caucasus to work in the direction of green energy.
