The Lankaran cannery, which is the biggest producer of a wide range of fruit juices and compotes in Azerbaijan, located in Lankaran district, is increasing the export potential of its products, a source in the cannery told Trend.
“The cannery mainly exports Bagdan compotes,” the source said. “These products are in great demand both domestically and abroad.”
“The products have been stably supplied this year to Russia, Ukraine, the US, while the biggest share of export accounted for the Russian market,” the source said. “Some 15,000 bottles were supplied to this market monthly from the beginning of this year up till now. Moreover, the products were exported several times during some months of the year.”
“The products, namely, 12,000-14,000 bottles of compote, as well as 1,500-2,000 bottles of narsharab (pomegranate sauce) were also supplied to the Ukrainian market monthly during six months of the year,” the source said.
“It is planned to supply 15,000 bottles to Russia in the coming days, and 12,000 bottles of compotes are expected to be exported to the US till the end of the month,” the source said.
“The cannery is currently holding talks on supplies with partners from Kazakhstan,” the source said. “The details of export in this sphere are being discussed.”
The retail price of compotes within the country varies between 1.40 manat (82 cents) and 1.80 manat ($1.05). The prices for export products are also quite low as foreign customers fully cover all transport and customs costs.
The products manufactured by the Lankaran cannery have a certificate of conformity issued by the Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents.
The capacity of the cannery allows producing about 6-7 million bottles of compotes, and up to 10 million bottles of all types of products in total.
The Italian equipment has been installed in the cannery.
