Entrepreneurs from the UAE and Cyprus purchased aviation kerosene and gasoline produced Turkmenistan’s Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries in foreign currency on the State Commodity Exchange of Turkmenistan during the last week, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.
In addition, heavy vacuum gas oil produced at the Seidi oil Refinery was traded in foreign currency by businessmen from Switzerland and Afghanistan, and urea – by representatives of the UK. Also, businessmen from Russia, the UAE, Turkey, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan bought colorless flat glass, dried licorice roots and rhizomes, and cotton yarn in foreign currency on the Turkmenistan’s exchange.
The total amount of transactions on the exchange in foreign currency exceeded $33.5 million.
Transactions in Turkmen manat were also made on Turkmenistan's exchange. Thus, entrepreneurs from Scotland, theUAE, Turkey, Pakistan, and Kazakhstan purchased cotton yarn, raw fatty acids of cotton soapstock, and cotton waste-delint for a total amount of more than 91.5 million Turkmen manat over ($26 million).
The domestic businessmen brought polypropylene bags and cotton fiber totaling about 96,000 manat ($275,431) to the domestic market.
In general, 59 transactions were registered on the exchange last week.
The State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan was established on July 29, 1994. It is the most important agency of state regulation of export-import operations.
