BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. The STAR Refinery, operated by Azerbaijan's State Oil Company (SOCAR) in Türkiye, experienced a sharp decline in naphtha production, Trend reports.
According to the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), the refinery produced 86,950 tons of naphtha in August 2024, down from 143,610 tons in the same period in 2023, marking a more than 39 percent decrease.
The refinery August 2024, a 44 percent decline compared to 918,225 tons supplied during the same period in 2023.
Commissioned in October 2018, the STAR Refinery was built with a total investment of $6.3 billion, of which $3.3 billion was financed through loans. The refinery has an annual processing capacity of approximately 10 million tons and can handle up to 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
