Baku to mull regulation of roaming tariffs in CIS

Baku will discuss proposals regarding the possible regulation of roaming tariffs in the CIS countries, the Regional Commonwealth of Communications (RCC) reported on Monday.
The issue will be addressed at the 27th meetings of the RCC Commission on the Economy of Communications to be held in Baku on May 24-25.

The agenda also includes issues of improving the methodology for setting tariffs in the telecommunications industry, developing and improving the financial services at post offices, identifying the main directions of development of the universal service mechanism, developing amendments and additions to the CIS cooperation strategy in the field of information and a draft action plan on its implementation until 2015.

Participants will also consider the RCC budget performance for 2010, proposals to improve the efficiency of the RCC budget organization and system of economic relations in the ICT field (the market of free competition, demonopolized market, monopoly, and oligopoly).

The question of the global financial crisis' effects on the telecommunications sector and ways to restore and further develop the sector will also be mulled.
