Funds of the National Fund of the Republic of Kazakhstan should be used only in exceptional cases, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the meeting, which discussed the conceptual approaches on the use of the funds of the National Fund, as well as directions of placement of its assets, Akorda said.
"Today it is necessary to clearly decide on the future role and place of the National Fund in the economic policy of the country in the long-term perspective. The National Fund - it is the money of future generations, and therefore, their use is allowed only in exceptional cases," Akorda quotes the President as saying.
In addition, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that one can not consider assets of the National Fund as a source to address current issues, but instead it is necessary to reduce inefficient budget spending, strengthen financial discipline and fight corruption and increase the tax base.
In this regard, the Kazakh president stressed the importance of taking drastic measures to balance the budget in the near future.
