ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 2. Kazakhstan and Tajikistan have agreed to implement a roadmap for increasing trade turnover between the two countries in 2023-2024, Trend reports.

The issue was discussed at the meeting between Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuanyshbayev and Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Zavki Zavkizoda.

During the meeting, Kuanyshbayev expressed gratitude for the invitation to participate in the Economic Forum of Central Asian countries, which will take place on September 14-15 in the city of Dushanbe as part of the Summit of Heads of State of Central Asia.

"I am convinced that the organization of such forums serves as an excellent platform for dialogue and has a positive impact on the development of trade and economy between our countries. Our relations are built on the foundation of strong fraternal ties," he added.

In turn, Zavkizoda noted the positive growth of economic relations between the countries.

"Our bilateral relations have reached a high level of friendship and trust. As a result, Kazakhstan has become Tajikistan's second largest trading partner," he said.

In 2022, the volume of trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $1.4 billion, which is 18.5 percent higher than the same period of the previous year.
