ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 13. The volume of cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Kazakhstan amounted to 321.3 million tons from January through April 2024, Trend reports.

The country's Bureau of National Statistics' data shows that this is 4.4 percent more than the level of the same period in 2023.

At the same time, cargo turnover for the preceding period totaled 16.4 billion ton-kilometers, 3.2 percent less than from January through April 2023.

In addition, regionally, from January through April 2024, a decrease in cargo turnover was noted in Zhetysu (21.2 percent), East Kazakhstan (13.9 percent), North Kazakhstan (13.8 percent), Abay (10.6 percent), Ulytau (10.5 percent), Kostanay (9.2 percent), Aktobe (8.5 percent), Karaganda (8.3 percent), Akmola (7.8 percent), Turkistan (6.8 percent), West Kazakhstan (4.8 percent), Almaty (3.7 percent), Kyzylorda (1.5 percent), and Mangystau (0.7 percent) regions.

To date, 13 international transport corridors have been formed and are in operation in Kazakhstan, including 5 railways and 8 roads.

Furthermore, about $30 billion has been invested in the transport and logistics infrastructure of Kazakhstan over the past 10 years.

Moreover, in the next five years, at least 40 billion euros will be needed to implement major infrastructure projects in the field of transportation in Kazakhstan.
