Seismic inactivity is traced since the beginning of 2009 in Kyrgyzstan, director of the Seismology Institute under the Kyrgyz National Academy of Science Kanatbek Abdrahmanov informed the news agency "24.kg".

As to Abdrahmanov, there was no earthquake in Chui and Issyk-Kul cavities for the last two months. "In fact it is not good. However I do not think that such inactivity can lead to something serious in the future", the Seismology Institute's director said.

The 2008 was also abnormally quite. "Usually there were about three thousands of earthquakes registered annually. In 2008 it was only 888," he said.

Scientists as usual worry about south regions of Kyrgyzstan, where 5-6 magnitude tremors can possibly happen in 2009.
