BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 14. Kyrgyzstan exported 9.9 tons of gold valued at $619.7 million from January through September 2023, Trend reports.
According to data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, this year's export volume was 143 times higher than the previous year's level of 69.4 kilograms. The value of these exports surged to $619.728 million during this period, a substantial increase (684 times) compared to $905,600 in the same period of 2022.
The primary bulk of the precious metal exports went to Switzerland, accounting for more than 8 tons valued at $502.8 million. Additionally, the country exported 984.3 kilograms of gold valued at $60 million to China's Hong Kong and 908.8 kilograms worth $56.7 million to the UAE.
In 2022, nearly the entire volume of gold exported in the first nine months went to Türkiye. However, this year, there were no exports to this country.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover totaled $10.790 billion from January through September 2023, which is an increase of 26.2 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Exports amounted to $2.108 billion, increasing 49.6 percent compared to the first nine months of 2022. Imports rose by 21.6 percent compared to the same period in 2022, reaching $8.681 billion.
