BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 14. Kyrgyzstan exported 5.7 million tons of gold worth $405 million from January through June 2024, Trend reports, citing the National Statistics Committee.
Thus, compared to the same period in 2023 (4.8 tons worth $302 million), the volume of gold exports increased by 18.7 percent.
The main importers of gold from Kyrgyzstan in the first half were the UK (about 2.8 tons worth $212 million), China (about 1.8 tons worth $129 million), and Switzerland (900 kilograms worth $63 million).
Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $7.6 billion from January through June 2024. The figure increased by 9.4 percent compared to the same period in 2023. Within this turnover, exports accounted for 16.9 percent, while imports made up 83.1 percent.
Exports from Kyrgyzstan in the first half of 2024 decreased by 3.2 percent year-on-year, totaling $1.3 billion. The value of imported goods into Kyrgyzstan was $6.3 billion, which is a 12.4-percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
