BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. Industrial enterprises of the Lebap region located in the east of Turkmenistan manufactured products worth over 6.82 billion Turkmen manat ($1.95 million) from January through April this year, Trend reports.
According to the official source of Turkmenistan, during the reporting period, the state-owned enterprises of the region produced 1.98 billion Turkmen manat ($566.75 million).
Compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, high growth rates of products produced at large and medium-sized industrial enterprises have developed in the electric power industry, mechanical engineering, metalworking, chemical and food industries.
Industry in Turkmenistan plays an important role in the country's economy, and in recent years there has been significant development in this area. The Government of Turkmenistan is actively pursuing a policy aimed at stimulating investment in industry and creating a favorable business environment.
