Turkmenistan's commodity exchange sales rise significantly

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 8. Turkmenistan last week noted an increase in sales on its State Commodity and Raw Material Exchange, the total amount of which amounted to more than $85.5 million, Trend reports.

According to the exchange, this is 5 times more than in the previous reporting period, during which the cost of raw materials sold amounted to $15.6 million.

For foreign currency, entrepreneurs from the UAE and Afghanistan purchased ECO 93 gasoline and polyethylene products produced at the technological installations of the Turkmenhimiya State Concern and Georgia – petroleum road bitumen of the Turkmennebit State Concern.

Furthermore, Turkmenistan sold cotton yarn and cotton lint to businessmen from the UAE, Türkiye, and Kyrgyzstan for foreign currency.

For the domestic market, domestic businessmen purchased base oil, wax, flat glass, as well as handmade carpets and cotton lint for a total amount of more than 56.1 million Turkmen manat ($16 million).

Last week's auctions of Turkmenistan's State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange yielded 28 transactions.

Meanwhile, on July 29, 1994, Turkmenistan established the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange. It is the most important body of state regulation for export-import operations.
