BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 15. Uzbekistan and Iran plan to increase trade turnover up to $1 billion,Trend reports via the press service of the Uzbek president.

For this, an appropriate roadmap will be developed. In addition, an agreement on preferential trade is envisaged.

This was discussed during a meeting of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi.

Last year the trade turnover between the countries increased by 73 percent, since the beginning of this year - by 15 percent.

During the meeting, parties also discussed already implemented and promising cooperation projects in the fields of agriculture, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas industry, production of building materials and metal products, science and innovations. The prospects for localization of production through the creation of joint industrial clusters were considered.

Particular attention was paid to partnership in the field of transport and logistics, scientific, technical and innovation areas, as well as cooperation between the regions of the two countries.
