Uzbekistan launches container trains from Chinese port to Tashkent via Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. Uzbekistan has initiated container train services from the Chinese port of Xiamen to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, via Iran, Trend reports.

According to the Uzbekistan Railways, the inaugural train, loaded with a variety of household appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and gas stoves, is planned to arrive from the Chinese port of Xiamen to Tashkent's Sergeli Railway Station in 14 days.

The route is serviced by a train consisting of 39 forty-foot containers. From Xiamen, the containers are transported by sea to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. Upon arrival, they are loaded onto the train and transported through the territories of Iran and Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan.

Currently, the container train has already crossed the territory of Uzbekistan and is expected to arrive in Tashkent today, June 25.

Earlier, Uzbekistan and Iran had reached an agreement to develop a multimodal corridor through Turkmenistan, aiming to reduce fees for Uzbek carriers.
