Iran's major companies increase iron ore concentrate output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. The production of iron ore concentrate by 17 major Iranian companies rose by 17 percent in three months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through June 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), Trend reports via the Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation organization's statement.

That number came to 13.6 million tons, according to the statement, up from 11.7 million tons during the same time last year.

Primarily, Gol-Gohar Company produced around 3.82 million tons, Chadormalu - 2.34 million tons, Gohar-Zamin - 1,990,000 tons, the Middle East Mining and Mineral Industries Company - 1.37 million tons, and the Sangan Mining Company - 1.2 million tons of iron ore concentrate.

The statement added that this product's output by Central Iron Ore Company amounted to 929,000 tons, OPAL Parsian Sangan - 725,000 tons, Sanabad - 652,000 tons, Sabanur - 436,000 tons, and Calalabad - nearly 117,000 tons.

To note, Iran can produce an average of 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year. The product is used in steel manufacturing. The potential of steel manufacturing in the country is about 40 million tons per year.
