Iran discloses volume of country's egg exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 4. Iran has exported 90,000 tons of chicken eggs worth $90 million from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2024) to the present (November 3, 2024), Chairman of Iran's Mihan Poultry Farmers Union Hamid Reza Kashani said, Trend reprots.

According to Kashani, Iran mainly exported eggs to Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, countries around the Persian Gulf, and African countries.

Kashani added that the country produced 113,000 tons of chicken eggs last month (from September 22 through October 21) with the advent of autumn. It is expected to produce 116,000 tons of chicken eggs in the current month (from October 22 through November 20) and 118,000 tons in the next month (from November 21 through December 20).

However, Iran has transformed from an importer of chicken eggs to an exporter in recent years. On average, Iran's export of chicken eggs is 10,000–13,000 tons per month. It is expected that in the current year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025), Iran's exports of chicken eggs will increase to about 150,000 tons.

He noted that Iran produced 1.33 million tons of chicken eggs during the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024). A total of 136,000 tons of chicken eggs worth $170 million were exported last year.

Meanwhile, Iran occupies the ninth place in the world in the production of chicken eggs. 10 percent of the country's chicken eggs are produced in East Azerbaijan Province.

To note, the annual consumption of eggs per person in Iran is 14.5 kilograms.
