Gold production at Iran's Zarshouran Complex surges

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 2. The gold reserves at Iran's Zarshouran Gold Complex have risen by 59 percent compared to previous estimates, head of Iran's Zarshuran Gold Mines and Mining Industry Development Company, Mohammad Parvin told reporters, Trend reports.

According to Parvin, due to ongoing research and new discoveries, the gold reserves at Zarshouran have grown from 27 million tons to 43 million tons.

He also noted that, alongside the increase in gold reserves, the production cycle at the complex has been extended from 25 to 65 years.

"The boost in gold reserves at Zarshouran will lead to greater employment opportunities and increased productivity in the coming years," he added.

The Zarshouran gold mine is located 35 kilometers from the Tekab county of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province. The Zarshouran Gold Mines and Mining Industries Development Company can produce 3 tons of gold bars a year.

The production of gold bars at the Zarshouran Gold Complex in the West Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) amounted to 1.04 tons (1,041 kg) of gold bullion in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021). Gold bullion production at the mine rose by 30 percent compared to the previous Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020).
