Iranian government raises Post Bank's capital

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 12. The capital of Iran's Post Bank has increased by 122 percent since the current government came to power (the current government has been in power since August 2024), the bank's CEO, Behzad Shiri, told reporters, Trend reports.

Shiri explained that the capital had been boosted by 20 trillion rials (about $35.2 million).

He also stated that this process had been completed within the last ten days and was submitted to the Central Bank for approval.

"If the Central Bank approves this request, the bank will significantly increase its supervisory indicators and expand its financial services and credit offerings," the official added.

To note, the capital of Iran’s Post Bank was raised by 119 percent to 36 trillion rials (around $63.3 million) in July 2024.

Iran Post Bank, founded in 1996, has about 6,500 branches throughout the country and provides financial services, especially in underdeveloped regions and rural areas.
