Iran's Qazvin Province handles one-third of Iraq's non-oil imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 16. Iraq accounted for 26 percent of non-oil exports from northern Qazvin province of Iran during the ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through January 19, 2025), the director general of the customs department of Iran's Qazvin province Saeed Naderi, told reporters, Trend reports.

Naderi noted that $471 million worth of 731,000 tons of non-oil products were exported from Qazvin Province during the mentioned period.

He further highlighted that the volume of non-oil exports from Qazvin saw a three percent increase in weight compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through January 20, 2024).

The official added that 21 percent of the province's non-oil exports went to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 10 percent to India, 9 percent to Afghanistan and 7 percent to Türkiye.

Meanhwile, the main exports included items such as laundry powders, copper wires, iron rods, potatoes, and more.

"The province imported 147,000 tons of products worth around $889 million over the ten months, mainly consisting of spare parts for trucks, passenger cars, and other goods. The main import sources were the UAE (49 percent), China (23 percent), Türkiye (14 percent), Russia (3 percent), and Germany (2 percent)," Naderi said.

In terms of revenue, Naderi reported that Qazvin Province's customs revenue amounted to 51.3 trillion rials ($91 million), marking an 88 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.

To note, Iran's non-oil exports amounted to 127 million tons worth nearly $47.8 billion, up 18 percent in value and 12 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.

Iran's Customs Administration statistics show that, the country's imports of non-oil products amounted to 30.8 million tons worth about $56 billion. Iran's imports of non-oil products increased by 3 percent in value and decreased by 3 percent in weight over ten months compared to last year.
